Just as a quick aside, I really need to figure out how to reduce the dust that gets onto my negatives. It’s really bad. I’d be willing to bet it’s a combination of dust on the negatives and dust on (in?) the scanner. Aargh.

Lucy’s Quiet Place

20100821-scan-0091.jpg

This is Lucy, sitting next to the rain barrel. I’d guess that she was just looking for a little quiet time, which is a bit out of character for her, but who can say for sure.

Jungels Dance Party

20100821-scan-0086.jpg

Every once in a while we get the music playing and just kinda let ‘er rip, as much as 4 girls 7 years old and under and “let ‘er rip.” We call it the “Jungels Dance Party.” My girls are still young enough not to be embarrassed by my lack of dancing skills, but time’s ticking on that clock. So, I need to enjoy it while I can.

At the Park

20100820-scan-0045.jpg

Just some pictures of the girls at the park. The picture of Norah, below, makes her look a little cross-eyed (or boss-eyed from “The IT Crowd”).

It has occurred to me that Lucy seems to be missing from in front of my lens lately. I’ll have to try and grab a few more pictures of her.

Stella in the gardens

20100817_0002.jpg

A couple more pictures of Lily and Stella at the Urbana arboretum. We had gone there to try and get some (a bit belated) birthday photos. It was really hot and humid and the girls were being hostile subjects. They just weren’t into it. And to be honest, I wasn’t exactly feeling the mojo either. So I broke out the film cameras and just starting shooting for fun.

This was taken inside the shade of a gazebo. It’s probably my favorite of Stella that day, but that darned sign on the left! A lack of viewfinder awareness on my part. I should have changed corners.

Lily ask to take some pictures so I let her use my DSLR while I shot with the Mamiya TLR.

Here’s the corresponding picture of me.

Boo!

I’m a bit late on posting this, I’ll admit. I’ve got one roll of developed film to scan, and two to develop. As always, it’ll be a surprise to me to find out what I shot.

Around the Sandbox

I developed a roll of film two days ago and yesterday was my first chance to look at the negs. I never remember what’s on one roll or the other. It’s a surprise every time. I remember seeing this picture. We were all around the sandbox in the backyard (with me lugging around my C330). At the time it was the reflection in her eyes that made me want to take a picture. Looking at it now, it seems to be a secondary draw in the picture. Luck favors the bold I suppose.

I also managed to grab this picture of Sarah and Norah. I quite like it. But, of course, I’m highly biased. I say grabbed, but really there’s no grabbing a shot with the Mamiya. It takes me forever to focus!

Finally, this was our attempt at a group shot. Suffice to say that I had many hostile models that morning.

Fading Flowers

The flowers (roses, I think) at the arboretum are losing their battle against the cold. They’re wilting and browning around the edges. Certainly they’ll be back next spring, but it’s a bit sad to see them go.

Arboretum Entrance

It’s a bit stark and bleak, no? We are heading towards winter and so all the plants, flowers, and leaves are gone.

6cmx6xm negative scanned then toned in Lightroom.
